Independent Stave Company (ISC) is an American company that manufactures and sells oak barrels for the aging of whiskey, wine, and other spirits. The company was founded in 1912 in Lebanon, Missouri, and is now headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. ISC is the largest manufacturer of oak barrels in the United States, and its barrels are used by some of the world’s most prestigious distilleries and wineries.
ISC’s barrels are made from white oak, which is grown in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri and Arkansas. The oak is air-dried for two years before it is used to make barrels. The barrels are then charred on the inside, which gives them their distinctive flavor.
